Why Weekends Are the Best Time to Dream About Travel (And How to Start

Introduction

There's something about weekends.

The pace slows down. The noise fades. The demands of the week loosen their grip. And for a moment, you get to breathe.

And in that quiet, something stirs.

Maybe it's the thought of a place you've never been.
Maybe it's a photo you saw that made you pause.
Maybe it's a feeling that whispers: "There's more to life than this."

That feeling isn't a distraction. It's a calling.

And weekends are the perfect time to listen.

Why Weekends Are Made for Dreaming

During the week, we're in survival mode. We're checking boxes, meeting deadlines, and managing responsibilities. There's little room for imagination.

But on weekends, something shifts.

The mind has space to wander. The heart has room to hope. And the dreams we've been pushing aside have a chance to rise to the surface.

That's why I love weekends. They're not just for rest — they're for reconnection. They're for remembering what matters. They're for dreaming.

The Dream You Keep Pushing Aside

Let me ask you something: Is there a place you've always wanted to visit?

Maybe it's Ghana. Maybe it's Rwanda. Maybe it's Zanzibar or Cape Town.

You've seen photos. You've read stories. You've imagined yourself there.

But you keep pushing it aside. "Someday," you tell yourself. "When I have more money. When things slow down. When I'm ready."

But here's the truth: "someday" is not a plan. It's a way of keeping your dream at a safe distance — close enough to comfort you, far enough to never require action.

This weekend, I want to invite you to change that.

How to Start (This Weekend)

You don't need to book a flight today. You don't need to have everything figured out. You just need to take one small step.

Here are some ideas:

1. Write it down.

Open a notebook or a note on your phone. Write the name of the place you've been dreaming about. Just the name. That's the first step.

2. Do a 5-minute search.

Google the visa requirements. Look up flight prices. Read one blog post about it. Just 5 minutes of research.

3. Tell someone.

Say it out loud. Tell a friend, a family member, or even just the universe. Saying it makes it real.

4. Set a small goal.

Maybe it's saving ₦5,000 this week. Maybe it's opening a travel savings account. Maybe it's checking your passport expiration date. Choose one small thing and do it.

The Dream Doesn't Have to Stay a Dream

I used to think travel was for other people. People with more money. People with more time. People who had it all figured out.

But I've learned that's not true.

Travel is for anyone willing to take the first step. Anyone willing to dream out loud. Anyone willing to believe that the life they imagine is possible.

That includes you.

A Weekend Wish

Wherever you are this weekend, I hope you find a moment of quiet. I hope you let yourself dream. And I hope you take one small step toward the life you've been imagining.

The world is waiting. And so is the person you're becoming.

Your Turn

🌍 If you could wake up anywhere in Africa tomorrow, where would it be?

Drop it in the comments — let's dream together. 💬✨
